Simple terms for a simple tool.
Last updated: July 9, 2026
Markdown Viewer is a free markdown editor that runs in your browser. These terms exist to keep expectations clear on both sides — please read them before using the service.
Agreement to terms
By accessing or using markdownviewer.org (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the Service.
What the service is
The Service provides free, browser-based markdown tools: an editor with live preview, export to HTML, PDF, and PNG, Mermaid diagram rendering, and reference content. Documents are processed client-side in your browser; we do not host or store your content. No account is required and there are no usage fees.
The Service is supported by third-party advertising displayed on the website.
Local storage
To make the editor useful, documents and preferences are auto-saved to your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device. Clearing your browser's site data removes all saved documents and settings — we cannot recover them, because we never had a copy.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- violate any applicable law or regulation;
- interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to circumvent the security of the website, including abusive automated traffic to the rendering API;
- distribute malware, phishing content, or material that infringes the rights of others via share links;
- misrepresent the Service or its output as your own product or service.
Since rendering runs on your own device, what you write is your business — and your responsibility.
Your content
You retain all rights to the markdown you create with the Service. Because processing happens in your browser and we never receive your documents, we claim no license over your content. You are solely responsible for what you create and share via generated links.
Intellectual property
- Your text is yours. We claim no rights over anything you write — we never even receive it.
- The website — its design, branding, and original content — belongs to markdownviewer.org and may not be copied or reused without permission.
- Third-party libraries used by the Service remain governed by their respective licenses.
Advertising
The Service displays advertisements from third-party ad networks. We are not responsible for the content of third-party ads or the websites they link to. Your interactions with advertisers are solely between you and them.
Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. Always review exported documents before relying on them. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, markdownviewer.org shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including losses arising from rendering errors, data loss, or inability to use the Service — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Changes to these terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
